CyLab to focus on NextG networks

The National Science Foundation has awarded $3M to Carnegie Mellon CyLab researchers to develop intelligent, resilient, and reliable next-generation networks. The project aims to address the shortage of data needed to drive research and development of NextG systems and use advances in an area of machine learning called generative modeling to create synthetic models of networking datasets.

Avise makes St. Louis its hub of operations

New York-based startup Avise, which developed accounting software that helps companies more quickly analyze and track financial data, is housing its largest number of staffers in St. Louis. Founder Edgar Thomas said he was drawn to the area for its engineering talent.

Hack Midwest coder competition

Hack Midwest, Kansas City’s largest coding competition, will bring together over 300 of the region’s software engineers this summer to build apps for a chance to win the equivalent of thousands of dollars in prizes. Over 50 teams from the region’s top companies will build ideas with code that solves business problems across industries, including fintech, healthcare, media, manufacturing, transportation and more.

CincyTech invests in low/no-code platform

CincyTech announced the closing of a $1.5 million Series Seed investment in TeamCentral, a provider of a low/no-code data integration platform. CincyTech led the financing with participation from TC investment partners. The company originated from an innovation program at Centric Consulting, an international management consulting firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
