Mark Cuban bringing AI boot camp to Fast Future cities

Fast Future COUNTRY–High-schoolers in the Midwest can learn AI from Mark Cuban’s boot camp later this year, according to Crain’s Detroit Business. Cuban, who owns the Dallas Mavericks, is bringing his boot camp for kids to more than 20 cities around the country. The initiative started in 2019 with six cities. The host cities in Fast Future country are: Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Chicago; Denver; Johnston, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; Pittsburgh; and Minneapolis-St. Paul. The boot camps will teach high school students basic AI concepts and skills. Cuban’s boot camp aims to show students “what artificial intelligence is and is not, where they already interact with AI in their own lives, and the ethical implications of AI systems including but not limited to TikTok recommendations, smart home assistants, facial recognition, and self-driving cars, to name a few,” a press release said.

Former Michigan governor launches cybersecurity company for small and medium organizations

ANN ARBOR, MI–Former Michigan governor Rick Snyder has launched a new cybersecurity firm for small- and medium-sized businesses. SensCy, a cybersecurity startup, launched July 25 through a high-tech, high-touch model, according to mitechnews.com. “SensCy’s sole focus is to improve the cyberhealth of small and medium-sized organizations, ensuring that they are prepared to respond should a cyberattack occur,” Snyder said. “We offer our clients an affordable, easily understood solution and the personal attention required to create a proactive cybersecurity culture to help mitigate their risk.”

Grow with Google Program helps Michiganders enter or switch tech careers

MICHIGAN–Google’s Grow with Google program is offering professional training and certifications in tech skills that are affordable or, with a new program designed for rural northwest Michigan, completely free, according to Cronicle Tech News. The program is used by Wells Fargo, SiriusXM, Salesforce, Ford, Verizon and Crate & Barrel to find entry-level workers. The IT Support, User Experience Design, Project Management and Data Analytics Certificates cost $39 per month by subscription on Coursera.
