Tech Trend Radar: HR Tech

HR technology is an umbrella term for software and associated hardware for automating the human resources function in organizations, including payroll, talent acquisition and management, workforce analytics, performance management, and benefits administration.

In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic and the change to remote workers led to HR leaders focusing on enhancing technology systems that upgrade workforce management. Sales of HR platforms and applications hit record levels. It looks like the trend will continue in 2022 as technology becomes a key solution to slowing labor shortages and employee resignations, facilitating hybrid work, and managing COVID-19 in the workplace.

Some of the newest HR tech solutions were developed in Fast Future cities. For example, Nashville-based Inova Payroll offers smart online payroll, time, and HR services to businesses nationwide. Indy-based FullStack PEO offers turnkey HR solutions for emerging companies that don’t have full HR departments. The tech covers payroll and compliance, benefits, and 401Ks.

Other companies offer tech to help in areas beyond those functions. Wisconsin-based Modern Hire uses ethical selection science and proven SaaS technology to predict candidate performance, ensure fairness, and automate workflows.

Cincinnati-based Cloverleaf offers HR tech that centers around team communication by building self-awareness, generating deeper relationships, eliminating communication breakdowns, fostering empathy, and breaking down barriers. We did an interview with Cloverleaf co-founder Darrin Murriner, who describes the tech.
