HealthTech: Flywheel Exchange acquires Radiologics | Funding & tech to fight Alzheimer’s
- ST. LOUIS—Flywheel Exchange, which makes a cloud-based, biomedical research data management platform, has raised $22 million in a Series C funding round. The fresh funding helped finance the acquisition of Radiologics, a St. Louis-based startup.
- COLUMBUS, OH—Researchers at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the College of Medicine will be participating in building an interdisciplinary resource network for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias with a $7.8 million award from the National Institute on Aging.
- MADISON, WI—Digital musculoskeletal (MSK) therapy company Kiio announced that it is offering direct-to-consumer access to their platform via a partnership with Walgreens FindCare.
- ST. LOUIS—Breakthrough research from Washington University could change how Alzheimer’s disease is treated. Using an algorithm, researchers say they are able to estimate when a person will start showing signs of dementia. Researchers made the discovery by using a commonly used brain scan in Alzheimer’s research; the scan measures a certain protein in the brain.
