CLEVELAND, OH—A revolutionary technology developed by MediView holds “the promise of X-ray vision for surgeons” using augmented reality. The tech allows a health care professional to wear glasses that let them see inside a patient without an incision or open operation, based on 3D patient-specific holograms of internal anatomy (taken from previous or intra-operative imaging).
NASHVILLE, TN—Healthtech company axialHealthcare will now be known as Wayspring and has closed a $75 million round of funding led by investment firm Valtruis, with participation from Centene Corporation, CareSource, HLM Venture Partners and other investors.
URBANA, IL—OCT systems are used to generate high-resolution cross-sectional images of regions in the human body. Researchers at the Beckman Institute Biophotonics Imaging Laboratory have developed a method of applying software to the OCT tool to provide polarization-sensitive capabilities — without the cost and complexity that typically accompany hardware-based PS-OCT imaging systems.
