Fueling the Future: Purina invests in startups, KC promotes high tech, Nashville startup raises $2.95M

Nestle Purina PetCare Co., located in St. Louis, has invested in five early stage pet startups. The startups will each receive $10,000, mentorship from Purina, and participation in an accelerator boot camp.
A Purdue-affiliated startup called Heliponix has won a National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research grant worth $256,000. Elevate Ventures contributed $50,000 in matching funds.
KCRise Fund, a Kansas City-based venture capital firm that invests in Seed and Series A stage technology companies, has closed on $41 million, which it plans to use to invest in 20 high-growth tech companies in Greater Kansas City.
