Intel chip factory comes to Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH—In what could be the largest economic development project in Ohio state history, nearly 3,200 acres northeast of Columbus will become a massive Intel computer chip factory.

LOUISVILLE, KY—GE Appliances (GEA), a Haier company, has been named “Smart Appliance Company of the Year” by market intelligence firm IoT Breakthrough. Among GEA’s innovations in 2021: SmartHQ Pro, a B2B service/product that provides a command center to remotely manage appliances across multiple units and simplifies service on-site through precision diagnostics.

A new venture-based innovation studio in Steel City

PITTSBURGH, PA—There will be a new venture-based studio launching in Steel City. With the working name Hooman, the studio will help to launch and scale local startups focused on AI and other tech-related innovations. The studio will be led by Lynsie Campbell, of the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance; Nathaniel Minto, the former VP of product from ShowClix; and Alejandro Rovirosa, an investor with The Fund Midwest.
