COLUMBUS, OH—A study conducted at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, shows that a cancer immunotherapy drug used for treating melanoma, lung, cervical and stomach cancer may also be effective in uterine cancer. The study found that 48% of advanced endometrial cancer patients experienced a complete or partial response to the drug.
ST. LOUIS, MO—Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have received three grants totaling more than $6.8 million to advance research on a novel imaging system to monitor uterine contractions. The five-year grant will support efforts to build a “normal term uterine contraction atlas” to help predict labor arrest and dysfunction.
CINCINNATI, OH—A University of Cincinnati researcher is evaluating a potential new treatment for mental health disorders. Ishita Basu, PhD, research assistant professor of neurosurgery at UC’s College of Medicine, intends to show that model-based, targeted electrical brain stimulation can help improve patients’ cognitive control.
