Reducing scatter radiation exposure

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—Egg Medical has secured $13 million in a financing round led by TVM Capital Life Science to accelerate the commercialization of EggNest, a protection platform that reduces 91% of scatter radiation exposure.

orthobrain raises $9M

RICHFIELD, OH—orthobrain, an orthodontic growth company, has raised $9 million in Series A funding to advance its clinical services and to develop technology solutions. The funding was led by CareCapital, with the JumpStart NEXT II Fund and the JobsOhio Growth Capital Funds participating.

$5M seed round for Epistemix

PITTSBURGH, PA—Modeling and simulation tech startup Epistemix, a provider of analytical tools that help leaders make better decisions by simulating how diseases, ideas, and behavior spread through communities, closed a $5 million priced seed round led by Ecliptic Capital. The new funding will go toward expanding use cases and markets for Epistemix’s signature simulation platform, FRED.

Purdue prof lands grant for swine flu research

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN—Mohit Verma, a Purdue University researcher, has landed a $1 million grant to boost his work on a rapid test for detecting African swine fever. The funding was included in the U.S. Farm Bill to help enhance the nation’s ability to develop rapid tests for high-consequence diseases.
