Fast Future COUNTRY–Vanderbilt University Medical Center is joining forces with Carnegie Mellon University and Cornell University on a Defense Department-funded project to create an artificial lung that can be used by patients at home. The research will be funded by a four-year, $87 million grant from the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP).

Alzheimer’s blood test proves highly accurate

A blood test developed at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has proven to be highly accurate in detecting early signs of Alzheimer’s disease. The blood test assesses whether amyloid plaques have begun accumulating in the brain.

NASHVILLE, TN–The Nashville chapter of the Blacks in Technology Foundation has launched a statewide initiative to provide nonprofit healthcare organizations in Tennessee with training in data analytics. Data analytics and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly important tools in healthcare to address population health, lower hospital readmittance rates, and escalate potential health issues to clinicians.
