ST. PAUL, MN–Medtech company Phraxis, Inc., has raised $4.5 million to launch its new dialysis tech InterGraft–an easily implanted device that decreases the number of surgeries a dialysis patient must undergo. Phraxis plans to build its inventory and pursue FDA 510(k) clearance to go to market.
$15M gift supports cancer research
MILWAUKEE, WI–Family members from Michels Corp. pledged a combined $15 million to launch a rare-cancer research initiative at the Medical College of Wisconsin. It will support the study of choroid plexus carcinoma and other rare cancers from 2022 through 2026. The gift honors Tim and Barbara Michels’ daughter Sophie, a survivor of the rare form of cancer.
University of Oklahoma receives funding from NIH
NORMAN, OK–The University of Oklahoma has received funding from the NIH to establish the Oklahoma Center of Medical Imaging for Translational Cancer Research, a collaboration between the Gallogly College of Engineering on the OU Norman campus and OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. The award is expected to provide more than $11.3 million over a five-year Phase 1 period, with the opportunity to compete for renewal for up to three phases.
