Tech company relocates to Nashville from NYC

NASHVILLE, TN–Tech company Energybox is moving from New York City to Nashville. According to NashvilleInno, the move will bring 250 jobs that will pay an average of $67 an hour. Energybox uses monitoring sensors, software, and analytics functions in the Internet of Things space to enable small and mid-sized businesses to automate operations and reduce energy usage.

LaunchKC is back

KANSAS CITY, MO–LaunchKC is bringing back its signature grants competition. Early-stage tech companies will have the opportunity to each win $50,000 in non-dilutive grants, plus access to business support and networking. A nationwide search is expected to run Aug. 15 through Sept. 9 as LaunchKC recruits innovative and diverse early-stage startups looking to scale their businesses through the rebooted program.

Ansys selected by NASA for Mars project

PITTSBURGH, PA–Software and simulation company Ansys has been selected to provide its simulation technology for a new research project that is backed by $10 million in funding from NASA. Ansys will support research led by the University of Central Florida in a project that aims to develop zero-carbon jet engines using liquid ammonia (NH3) as an alternate, more sustainable fuel for aircraft.

AI and livestock

INDIANAPOLIS, IN–Verility, a startup that specializes in fertility analysis for livestock breeders, closed on a Series A fund worth $3.5 million. The money will go toward helping Verility commercialize its platform, called Fertile-Eyez, which enables rapid, sensitive, and cost-effective animal-side semen quality check and ovulation prediction through Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based image analysis frameworks and optical sensors.
