Docket raises $3M | Refinery Ventures closes second fund
- CINCINNATI, OH—Refinery Ventures announced the close of its second fund with $36 million, more than two times its first fund. The fund was backed by Cintrifuse, Great American Insurance, Western & Southern Insurance, and The Cleveland Foundation.
- INDIANAPOLIS, IN—Meeting management software platform Docket has completed a $3 million financing round with support from the IU Angel Network. The company’s Zoom-compatible platform improves business meeting productivity and efficiency by allowing users to create and share agendas, take notes, and assign post-meeting actions.
- KANSAS CITY, MO—Digital Sandbox KC announced the latest companies selected for funding in the new year. The companies run the gamut from diversity and equity to skill-based ed-tech and PaaS (Publishing as a Service).
- MILWAUKEE, WI—Marquette University has received a two-year, $3.8 million grant from the DoD to develop novel, sustainable technologies to protect the environment and to provide clean drinking water. Marquette researchers have been developing water tech for decades.
- AMES, IA—With a $1.4 million Strategic Infrastructure Program (SIP) grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Iowa State University announced plans to use a giant 3D printer to manufacture affordable homes in rural Iowa. The grant will fund equipment and materials, including a 3D construction printer, 3D concrete construction printing materials and components, on-site robotics, mobile CNC machining, web technologies and virtual and extended reality.
